Andrew Nikou is a self made financier whose investment holdings include the leveraged buyout firm OpenGate Capital, based in Beverly Hills, California. Mr. Nikou is the founder, chairman and managing partner of the firm. Through OpenGate Capital, Mr. Nikou owns a portfolio of operating companies in a broad range of business markets including technology, media, telecommunications, business services and manufacturing. Mr. Nikou makes his investments through a diversified capital base that includes the assets of OpenGate Capital portfolio companies as well as a private equity fund backed by capital commitments from private wealth investors. He currently serves on the boards of TV Guide Magazine, Gabriel North America, Pacific Crest Transformers, and Open Wireless.
Mr. Nikou has extensive private equity investment and operational experience. Prior to OpenGate Capital, Mr. Nikou managed Platinum Equity’s European investment activities and helped establish their European principal office. He sourced Platinum’s first four successful European acquisitions. Prior to Platinum, Mr. Nikou worked at the Patent and License Exchange (PLX), a Softbank investment start-up. PLX served as a transparent and liquid marketplace for the valuation and exchange of licenses and patents.
Andrew currently lives in Los Angeles, California. He was born in Vancouver, Canada and moved to the United States with his family when he was a child. He received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business. Mr. Nikou spends his private time working with various charities around the world and is currently working on establishing OpenGate Capital's entertainment and media department.
