About Us

OpenGate Capital is an international private equity firm that acquires controlling interests in businesses with solid fundamentals which exhibit opportunities for operational improvements and growth.

Established in 2005, OpenGate Capital has a global footprint with headquarters in Los Angeles, California and a principal office in Paris, France. OpenGate is served by a seasoned team of M&A and operating professionals that bring the skills needed to acquire, operate and build companies. The partners of OpenGate have executed over 100 transactions worldwide ranging from corporate divestitures, turnaround acquisitions, industry consolidations and other special situations investments across a wide array of industries and geographical markets. When we acquire a company, we are comfortable working with pre-existing executives or new management teams to restore business fundamentals while keeping an eye on building long term growth.

In addition to the human capital we provide on each deal, OpenGate Capital has a unique fund structure that allows tremendous flexibility and creativity in determining appropriate capital structures. OpenGate Capital is both internally and externally funded, with capital in excess of $500 million that allows us to:

  • Consummate transactions as quickly as 30 days without financing contingencies.
  • Focus on an entrance strategy as opposed to the exit strategy since we do not have pre-defined holding periods and no short term contingencies regarding return of capital.

Regardless of the type of acquisition, OpenGate understands the importance of confidentiality, quick decision making, and the ability to create a “win-win” situation for all parties involved in a corporate divestiture or special situation transaction. The partners at OpenGate Capital have relationships with global 2000 companies including General Electric, Tyco, Sumitomo, IBM, and British Telecom. We have successfully completed transactions with a wide range of leading companies in including Phillips, Schlumberger, and Areva.
